This parcel as a whole is called Rosey but in the 18th century a small parcel called "Sept Ranches" appeared in the southwest corner near Plantenay. Ranche is a form for the word "ronce " from the Latin ‘RUMEX’ which means "small sorrel, a species of stinger plant". Other variants such as "ronche", "ronde" and "ronze" appear in the place-name history of Burgundy.

Karine Moréteaux

Chanzy's expert advice

Serving temperature: 15°C
From cherry ruby to dark garnet, it composes its bouquet with black (blackcurrant, blackberry) and red (bigarreau cherry) fruits, liquorice. On the palate, the tannins respect the fruit and the relief of its structure. The slight tightening of the aftertaste is a good sign of persistence and return of aromas. This beautiful wine surprises with its solid structure and yet so fruity.

Food and Wine pairing

We prefer to combine this wine with poultry, roasted or in a sauce, or with offal such as liver. It also works with risottos and pasta with meat and poultry, which will round off their smoothness from the slightly firm tannins of a young Rully.
