Santenay is located at the southern of Côte de Beaune on the border with Côte d'Or and Saône-et Loire. Santenay has long had shared ambitions: wine and thermal waters. Today the village devotes itself fully to Bacchus and it has forgotten that it was once called Santenay Les-Bains. Only through the chance designation of department limits during the Revolution was Santenay separated from Maranges. The vineyard, which is crossed by the gentle river Dheune, produces red wines for laying down. They are said to have "the soul of Volnay and the body of Pommard".

Chanzy's expert advice

Serving temperature: 15°C
This wine has an intense black cherry color with a beautiful shine. It expresses a floral nose of peony and violet and then black fruits. The palate is round and greedy, with much finesse and length. It is a deep wine with good density.

Food and Wine pairing

Turkey terrine, calf's head cheese, foie gras pie, scrambled eggs with chicken livers, ravioli with foie gras, oxtail in red wine, tournedos belle-Hélène, black pudding with chestnuts, turkey paupiettes with tomato ...
